March Favourites and Wishlist
I think this will be "the one" for a while. It's like Healthy Mix, one of my favourite ever foundations, with SPF, a shade that matches me and great ingredients. I really couldn't want more from a foundation/BB. It looks natural on the skin and has a medium buildable coverage. Only thing that I might complain a bit is the inconsistent finish on my skin, but that's likely "a my skin thing". Sometimes it becomes more glowy during the day, but not greasy shiny (I mean that without powder because I don't always use it) and then sometimes it's satin. I don't know the connection because I use the same skin care every morning, but it's not a big issue and I still really like this one and it just makes me look fresh. It has arbutin, niacinamide, adenosine, rosehip oil, jojoba oil, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, peptides, collagen, amino acids and several extracts.
Before I bought Missha, I dusted off this bottle, which has been neglected for a while (I spoke of my annoying habit of saving the good stuff, while using up less nice stash). It's just one of the best formulas for my skin. It's natural, fresh and has medium coverage, which is enough for me. My skin is dry, so obviously I love such formulas that don't look matte. I recently saw that we got both shade 50 and 50,5 in DM, which is so good to hear. I currently have shade 50, which isn't a perfect match and after swatching both, I think 50,5 might fit me better.
I'm impressed by this formula. It's similar to Colourpop Lippie Sticks Matte X lipsticks, which are one of my favourite, though Colourpop still has an advantage. Ultra Fix formula is so light, both at application and especially once it dries, which happens in a few minutes, and you are left with this matte, transfer-proof colour that feels like nothing on the lips. And yet, this is so creamy at application and glides with ease. Only Colourpop Matte X is like that, but it is a bit thicker at application and Oriflame doesn't match Colourpop in pigmentation. It lasts well and this colour is very wearable. Great stuff.
BEE NATURAL 100% Natural Lip Balm
During my recent search for an easy-to-get lip balm I was recommended this, a brand sold in my local Müller and I really like it. It's similar to my favourite Palmer's because it's soft, but not too much, there none of that waxy feeling, it glides well on the lips, it nourishes instantly and lasts a good amount of time. Scent is no the best mango one, so I'll likely get Coconut Vanilla when I repurchase it.
ESSENCE Lip Care Booster Lip Butter
This is an unexpected gem among the new Essence products and so much better than the coconut lip care line I've tried from Catrice. It's a thick balm that sticks on the lips well, feels very nourishing and smells amazing like coconut sweets. Let's hope Essence keeps this in their line for a while, but we all know Essence.
PALMER'S Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick
I put it in the last favourites and now I'll put it here again because this is still the best lip balm I've tried. I love this stuff and I prefer it to Palmer's actual lip balm.
AFRODITA Lavender Relaxing Moments Oil Shower Gel
I love lavender scents, but a few are actually good in beauty products. This one is so relaxing, closer to the real thing than a lot such scents. It's that extra citrus that makes so much better. The shower gel itself is nothing special and I used it up quite fast, but I already got myself another bottle.
EVELINE COSMETICS Extra Soft BioArgan Manuka Oil Face and Body Cream
It's not the usually thick, body butter formula I love, but this still won me over. I like the L'Occitane Almond body cream rip-off scent and the texture is rich enough for me. I also like that it has hyaluronic acid, ceramides and cholesterol, which are not often found in body products, particularly those you can get in a local drugstore.
PALMER'S Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturising Hair Oil
I think this is a major find, but I don't want to jinks it because I have a lot of regular oils that had the potential of being great for daily use, but they end up too much and I use them only on the last days before washing. It's like a dry oil, think Nuxe, but there's something about this that I like a little more when it comes to my hair. It's not super greasy, actually on the skin it absorbs very fast compared to most oils and the fact it comes in a spray makes it easier to distribute more evenly and it doesn't make my hair look too greasy when I apply it, but the best part is that on the second day, my hair looks good, like I didn't use a regular oil, but a silicone one. So it's not like I expected a pre-wash treatment, but I think I'll love this for daily use. So far I really like it, but we'll see long term. In any case it's wonderful for very dry ends and patched strands, it's fixes them instantly and smooths them down. The scent is fantastic, as it smells like chocolate and mint, so After Eight and the scent lingers.
JOHN FRIEDA Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight
I'll start by saying this isn't some amazing miracle worker that transforms my hair into a silky, straight waterfall of hair, but it helps, which is a lot when it comes to my super frizzy hair. It's somewhat similar to a much more expensive combination of Moroccanoil Smooth Blow-Dry Concentrate & L'Oreal Professional Liss Unlimited Smoothing Cream, however, that one is still better for my hair purely because it has some nourishing capacities, while this is just a very light alcohol-based liquid with polymers and keratin that help the hair stay straight. I'm actually more impressed by how well it holds the hair style, rather than how good it is when I'm blow drying my hair. At the latter, it's not always a super smooth blow-out, so I still need to put my hair in a bun while it's still warm and after it cool, then I have a smooth result, but it is straighter and sleeker than without and it lasts like that for days, which with my hair doesn't happen if I don't use a straightener. So far I've only used a blow-dryer with this, though instructions say to use a straightener as well, but I find that blow-drying gets me a good result already. Since it's so very light and also alcohol based, I need to make sure that I use nourishing leave-ins under it, otherwise my hair feels dry fast.
Note: I forgot to add Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum, which I used yesterday for the first time without 3 Day and I got a very smooth blow-out too (with the brush below). So both are impressive, but serum is considerably heavier and only for thick hair.
Hair dryer brush from AliExpress (Revlon One Step Styler dupe)
I started to like this a lot more than when I got it and it's likely the Frizz Ease that makes this work more effectively. I wanted the original, but when I was buying this, Revlon's was simply not possible to get in Slovenia, I checked everywhere, so I risked getting the dupe, which is a bit wonky when it comes to the settings, but otherwise surprisingly ok. Still, if I knew back then Revlon will be in DM within a year, I would have waited. I can't get a smooth blow-out with my ancient Remington blow dryer and a round brush, but I can with this and it's a really great result. It's almost comparable to a straightener and it's sooo much easier and quicker. You just slowly comb you hair and since it's so big, you can work with big chucks. However, you still need to dry the hair first with a regular hair dryer because this brush can't dry close to the scalp. John Frieda and this dryer are working out for me at the moment.
U Hair Clip
I have no idea what to call this, but it's shaped like a U, so that's the name you'll get. I wear a bun very often, every day a few times, as I change my style a lot. Regular bobby pins start to pinch and they also always fall out or get loose (even the extra-long ones I searched high and low for) and about the same goes for scrunchies/hair ties, so neither are super comfortable options for me and my amount of hair, which is relatively heavy. I got several different options of new pins/ties for my hair to test and shockingly this little thing, which looks like it can't hold anything, is the winner. It just holds and I need just one, which is so unexpected. It's such a simple concept and it's more comfortable than regular bobby pins. I got plastic ones and I had three in a pack, and they lasted well until I used that dreadful Lanhaarmädchen mask, which made my hair so coarse and hard that these just snapped when I tried to push them in. I managed to break two in a span of 20 seconds, so well done Langhaarmädchen, you truly suck (my hair still isn't ok after it). Actually even broken in two they work. I ordered more of these and got the metal ones this time (plastic one is also sold in Müller).
EVELINE COSMETICS Unicorn Magic Drops - The ingredients list caught my attention because it has niacinamide high on the list. It think it's similar to CV Pink Glow serum, though ingredient-wise they are different, as CV is a vitamin C product.
ZOYA Darling 2021 Spring Nail Collection Kayleigh or ANNY Pastel Paradise Collection Lilac District - I saw Zoya swatched on IG and immediately loved the look of it. Though we have this brand here, it's not in my local Müller and after going thorough every stand in the two drugstores we have, I only found one similar shade by ANNY. It's also from a current LE and just like Zoya expensive for a nail colour (over 10 €). I'm a bit surprised there's no similar cheap shade in drugstores here.
MOLASH Eyelash Serum - Petra from Adjusting Beauty praises this and I trust her. It's different from the Eveline one I have currently, which you apply like a mascara and I think it's likely more just strengthening the lashes, while Molash is applied like an eyeliner, so on the roots.
SCHWARZKOPF GLISS KUR Hair Repair 7 sec Express Repair-Kur - Schwarzkopf is totally not trying to rip off L'Oreal and it's 8 Second Wonder Water (that was sarcasm if you didn't catch it). Ingredient-wise they are similar in the beginning of the list, but that's stuff doesn't seem that important to me (in terms of beneficial ingredients for hair), but the rest of the list is different. Still I have this nagging suspicion Gliss will here (first or at all), so I'll try it when it gets here. It's already in Austria and I think I've seen a Slovene version of the website, but as of Monday I haven't seen it in drugstores yet.
ANDALOU Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask - I'm having trouble finding acid product that would have an effect on my skin. So far it's only the expensive Ecooking mask and then I remembered I had a sample of this one a long time ago, which worked for me too. Maybe it's time to get a pot.
